This financing program sends out the required information to over a dozen different lenders to ensure that your loan fits you and your project the best way it can.  This process does not even require a social security number.

The form can be filled out on our website at South Shore Gunite financing or on Paramounts website at new pool financing

Paramount financing is a service offered by a pool products manufacturer.  Their motivation behind this is to provide all the help they can to people who want swimming pools because when a swimming pool is sold they profit.  Paramount does not make money off of the loan itself.

Swimming Pool Questions and concerns

I would like to encourage everyone and anyone to post up a question, or concern that you may have about building or owning a swimming pool.  South Shore Gunite designs, builds, maintains and repairs pools from your basic 18,000 gallon backyard pool all the way up to NCAA competition pools such as the 980,000 gallon pool at Brown University.

A Myth about our name

Our company's name has prompted many questions about where we are located and where we do work.  The name came from 30 years ago when South Shore Gunite primarily did all of their work on the South Shore of Massachusetts and was located there.

South Shore Gunite Pools is now located in Chelmsford, MA.  We travel very far to provide both residential and commercial customers very high quality swimming pools.  Our main area is all of New England from the points of CT that border NY all the way up to ME where the towns are numbered instead of named.

Just last year we completed an aquatics center for the City of Charlottesville, VA.

No matter where you live you should always feel like you can call South Shore Gunite for a high quality, competitively priced swimming pool.

Rebound In Gunite

Rebound is a naturally occurring byproduct of properly placed shotcrete.  Rebound is usually equated to about 15% of the overall yardage used on a job.  Rebound is generated two ways; one is as the material is being placed the sand cement mixture with more cement sticks to the surface it is being applied to.  The sand cement mixture that has less cement bounces off and becomes rebound.  Rebound is also generated from the trimming of walls and floors.  These shavings are of the greater sand cement mixture but must be scraped away to provide the proper dimensions and trueness of the surface.
Rebound and shavings (both lumped under the heading of rebound) are shoveled outside of the pool form line and used as deep fill.  Rebound will usually achieve about 1,000PSI and is regularly used as deep fill.  Deep fill is the first level of fill used to fill up an excavation that was originally created for construct ability.  It is referred to as deep as it is well below final grade and will not impede any top finish or landscaping.

What is Gunite?

Gunite is a term for the dry process of shotcrete.  Gunite once in place is the same thing as concrete , the main difference is the application process.  Gunite is pneumatically applied concrete, which means that a very high volume of air under pressure is used to convey the material down a hose and then shoot it into place at a high velocity.  The high velocity is what gives gunite its strength.  If material does not come out of the nozzle and stay where its shot then it needs to be removed from the pool.  What needs to be removed from the pool is called rebound, which i will cover in my next article.  There should be a good amount of what looks like hard grey sand around the perimeter of a pool when the gunite has been applied correctly.

The way gunite works, is first a mixture of 4 parts washed concrete sand and 1 part cement powder  is mixed together dry with no water added.  The dry mixture then falls down a shoot into what is known as the gun. (two guns side by side are shown in figure 1)  Inside the gun is a hopper and at the bottom of the hopper is whats called the bowl which you can see in figure 2.  When the material falls into the gun it fills of the holes you see in the bowl.  The bowl rotates and when it gets to the point that you can not see is where the air is introduced.  High pressure air is blown into the smaller hole forcing the material out the larger hole and down the 2" hose to the nozzlemen (figure 3).  The water is added at the end of the hose at the nozzle by the nozzlemen.  The nozzlemen is highly trained, experianced, and certified to know how much water to add to make the correct concrete mixture.
