Our company's name has prompted many questions about where we are located and where we do work. The name came from 30 years ago when South Shore Gunite primarily did all of their work on the South Shore of Massachusetts and was located there.
South Shore Gunite Pools is now located in Chelmsford, MA. We travel very far to provide both residential and commercial customers very high quality swimming pools. Our main area is all of New England from the points of CT that border NY all the way up to ME where the towns are numbered instead of named.
Just last year we completed an aquatics center for the City of Charlottesville, VA.
No matter where you live you should always feel like you can call South Shore Gunite for a high quality, competitively priced swimming pool.
The South Shore Gunite Pools & Spas, Inc. Blog will be about the swimming pool industry, our company, and our customers.

Rebound In Gunite
Rebound is a naturally occurring byproduct of properly placed shotcrete. Rebound is usually equated to about 15% of the overall yardage used on a job. Rebound is generated two ways; one is as the material is being placed the sand cement mixture with more cement sticks to the surface it is being applied to. The sand cement mixture that has less cement bounces off and becomes rebound. Rebound is also generated from the trimming of walls and floors. These shavings are of the greater sand cement mixture but must be scraped away to provide the proper dimensions and trueness of the surface.
Rebound and shavings (both lumped under the heading of rebound) are shoveled outside of the pool form line and used as deep fill. Rebound will usually achieve about 1,000PSI and is regularly used as deep fill. Deep fill is the first level of fill used to fill up an excavation that was originally created for construct ability. It is referred to as deep as it is well below final grade and will not impede any top finish or landscaping.
